Key stage 3
The Key Stage 3 Technology curriculum primarily relates to computing, creative media and digital literacy. This has involved them experiencing a range of different software and applications across a number of platforms.
Technology at The Reach Free School also consists of Food Technology, Textiles, Electronics and Systems and Control. Technology is developed extensively through our electives programme. Pupils have access to textiles through sewing, knitting and puppet making electives. We have access to a Food Technology area, which allows pupils to develop a range of culinary skills, but also understand and value the importance of sound nutritional information.
Technology is embedded across the curriculum at The Reach Free School in Key Stage 3 as all pupils have their own tablet, which is used in lessons across the school.
These devices complement the three IT suites consisting of Apple Macs, Dell PCs and Chromebases. Pupils also have access to Google Classroom, where teachers can post resources and important messages, which pupils can access, download and upload.
Key Stage 4
Pupils have the option to choose two different subjects at GCSE for Technology.
- GCSE Computer Science
- BTEC I&CT
Technology is embedded across the curriculum at The Reach Free School in Key Stage 4 as all pupils have their own Chromebooks, which are used in lessons across the school.
