We want to build a staff team at The Reach Free School which is relentlessly focussed on improving the achievement and opportunities for our pupils. All staff that work at the school will subscribe to our ethos and values, and will seek to improve and develop their own practice and performance for the benefit of our pupils. At the bottom of this page you can read about why two of our current staff members applied to work at The Reach Free School, and what they say about working here.

Why did you apply for a role at The Reach Free School, and what is it like working there?
I decided to apply for a job at The Reach Free School for many reasons. One thing that captivated my attention was the ethos; Achievement, Community, Enjoyment. Working as a teacher, for me, is more than planning and delivering lessons. I wanted to work at a school which had values that would enrich the everyday lives of its pupils. When meeting the senior leadership team, I was welcomed into a friendly environment and made to feel like a valued member of staff. At The Reach Free School this is something that I experience every day. Staff enjoy working and the family environment is an added bonus.
Our pupils are given many opportunities to enhance their learning, the teachers plan exciting lessons and the pupils are able to experience a variety of trips. Working in such a small school offers a fantastic opportunity to try new ideas and the senior leadership team are always supportive with our classroom decisions.
Choosing to work at The Reach Free School was the best decision that I have made regarding my career. The opportunity to continue my professional development is endless and the prospect to progress is a chance that I may not be offered in another school. Coming to school doesn’t feel like work when I enjoy being here this much.
Collette Bridge Madden – Head of Mathematics
I have been teaching for many years and have had a very broad range of experiences and responsibilities. I was very settled and comfortable in my job. Then I saw the advert for The Reach Free School…
It made me stop and think about all the exciting possibilities a new school would offer so I decided to apply. It sounds corny but it was the best professional decision I have ever made. Working in a very supportive team to develop and teach a new curriculum is exciting as well as challenging. Also there will be lots of opportunities for career progression as the school grows.
The school has a lovely community feel to it, it’s the first thing you notice when you walk in the door. I love the fact that I know every person in the school from the Headteacher to the youngest pupil, the support staff and the Governors.
We are all involved in the planning of our new school buildings and are able to discuss what we think is important. My favourite part of the day is the ½ hour we spend in Reach for a book. Sitting reading with the pupils is a great way to get to know them better and to watch them develop. The impact on their learning is fantastic.
I cannot recommend this school highly enough. Anyone given the opportunity to work here is really lucky – come and join us!
