In Key Stage 3 PE, each pupil’s sporting skill is developed and a healthy appetite for competition instilled alongside the important qualities of team spirit and sportsmanship.
Pupils enjoy two double lessons of PE each week, usually in single sex groups. We use the outstanding facilities at Merchant Taylors’ School, including their swimming pool, astroturf, and rugby and football pitches.
A range of activities are taught to both boys and girls including: Football, Rugby, Netball, Gymnastics, Dance, Rounders, Cricket, Athletics and Swimming.
Key Stage 4
All pupils will continue to participate in PE lessons in years 10 and 11 as part of their core curriculum. However, pupils may choose to select PE as one of their GCSE courses and will therefore be assessed according to the criteria of the syllabus.
We envisage offering pupils the opportunity to continue their study of Physical Education and Sport in years 12 and 13 through both academic and vocational routes.
