Key Stage 3 Science at The Reach Free School follows a 2.5-year science curriculum programme. Pupils are taught Biology, Chemistry and Physics through a skills-based model, and are assessed in these subjects regularly. Pupil progress is tracked throughout the year and across topics.
The Science Department at The Reach Free School follow the Oxford University Press Key Stage 3 science scheme ‘Activate’. Students have access to lessons from class by going to Google Classroom.
Key Stage 4
The majority of pupils will study the Edexcel Combined Science curriculum, which results in pupils getting two GCSEs in Science at the end of the course. Some pupils will be given the opportunity to study Triple Science and attain separate grades in GCSE Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Students have access to the textbook online, which is listed below in useful links. Core practical experiments make up part of the GCSE and a mandatory to pass in order to be able to obtain Science GCSEs.
In our Sixth Form, pupils will have the opportunity to study for A levels in Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Other science-based subjects will also be considered to ensure The Reach Free School offers a varied scientific education from year 7 through to year 13.
